We've all been there—stuck behind someone hesitantly plodding along the sidewalk, head buried in their phone.

Just this past weekend, two boating accidents—nearby in West Virginia and North Carolina—claimed the lives of two people and sent another dozen to the hospital.

Bertha, the second hurricane of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season, has been downgraded to a tropical storm between North Carolina's Outer Banks and Bermuda.

The US Coast Guard 5^th District in Portsmouth, VA, released this morning that there have been 40 drownings that occurred from northern New Jersey to southern North Carolina this summer alone 2014. This is just along the Mid Atlantic Coast and of the 40 boating- or swimming-related deaths, 34 people were not wearing lifejackets. In February 2010, a Virginia resident suffered a serious traumatic brain injury during a car accident in which his vehicle's side air bags failed to deploy.
