The Dangers of Guns and Children
Norfolk, Newport News, and Roanoke, Virginia
Young children are typically not going to sit down and think through the dangers of handling a gun. They don’t know all there is to know about gun safety and how to protect themselves.
In one of our cases, we had a 10 year old playing with a gun. It was a BB gun, but the damage was still very severe and left our young client blind in one eye.
The children were playing with the gun and it was fired. It was fired right into the young man’s eye, causing him injury. The boy showing it off didn’t even know it was a BB gun, thinking it was some sort of air gun instead. His lack of knowledge of the gun failed to protect the both of them. His family was needed to be held responsible for the other boy’s debilitating injury. Through our efforts, we were able to secure a financial settlement for the young man so that he can get an eye replacement so that it looked as if he had a normal eye. This will allow him to grow up without shame and lead a normal life. Watch the video now to learn more.
