A. J. Kalfus grew up in Massachusetts and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the College of William and Mary - Norfolk in 1962. While working for a national accounting firm, and then a mid-sized firm in Beverly Hills, Mr. Kalfus passed the CPA exam and became licensed to practice in California.

He then attended the University of Tennessee where he became an instructor in accounting while pursuing his law degree which he obtained in December, 1967. He became licensed to practice law in Virginia in January, 1968, having passed the Virginia bar after his second year in law school. He is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the United States Supreme Court and the United States Tax Court.

A. J. is Co-Managing Shareholder at Kalfus & Nachman. His practice includes all civil matters, corporate and business transactions, real estate closings and related matters, as well as tax-related issues. He and his wife, Vicki, have three children.
