Charges Made in Crash That Critically Injured Actor Tracy Morgan

Norfolk, Newport News, and Roanoke, Virginia

A truck accident on the New Jersey Turnpike injured several, including actor Tracy Morgan and has left one man dead. The driver of truck has now been charged with one count of death by automobile and an additional four counts of assault by automobile.

The accident occurred when the driver of the tractor-trailer didn't notice slowing traffic in front of him and, though he tried to swerve at the last minute, read-ended the limo bus where Tracy Morgan and others were riding.

Tracy Morgan and three others from the limo bus were rushed to the hospital, and one man, comedian James McNair, was killed.

Though alcohol has not been deemed involved in the accident, it is being investigated by the New Jersey State Police. A spokesman for The National Highway Safety Board, Keith Holloway, reported that their institution will perform an investigation about "safety issues related to commercial truck and limousine safety."
